Spring Farm Alpacas have just returned from the South of England Spring Garden and Leisure Show 2015. Vicki worked with Liz Butler of Nutfield Park Farm to put on the show, and it was, as always a huge success – even if the heavens opened on the morning of the first day. Mind you, the fields were desperate for the rain. The judge for the Show was Liz Barlow and although the turnout was not as large as in some previous years, one over riding comment from alpaca exhibitors was what a friendly show it had been. Spring Farm Alpacas supports the Show in many ways but it is important that this our local Show is well supported by alpaca breeders in the South East of England. We were very pleased to see so many members of the South East Alpaca Group at the Showground and in helping with some of the very necessary roles that make the show such a success.
Spring Farm Alpacas entered 10 alpacas – both huacaya and suri. We also entered the Sire’s Progeny class so, all told, we were in eleven classes. Our results were as follows:
Alpaca | Class | Placed |
Neptune | Intermediate brown suri male | FIRST |
Shogun | Adult brown huacaya male | SECOND |
Orelia | Junior light suri female | SECOND |
Odette | Junior fawn suri female | SECOND |
Obelix | Junior fawn suri male | FIRST + CHAMPION |
Oriel | Junior brown suri male | FIRST + CHAMPION |
Oreo | Junior fawn suri male | SECOND + RESERVE CHAMPION |
Oenone | Junior grey huacaya female | SECOND |
Napoleon | Intermediate brown suri male | FIRST |
Mr. Knightly | Senior black huacaya male | FIRST |
Alfonzo | Suri sire’s progeny | SECOND |
A huge thank you must go to Millie and Paul, Chris, Angie and Joelle for helping out over the weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2016 at the South of England!
