Alpaca Walking at Spring Farm.

Walking alpacas with us at Spring Farm.

To book an alpaca walk here at Spring Farm, please click on the following link. It will take you to our other website where you can see lots more on what is involved: Book an alpaca walk

Spring Farm Alpacas offers alpaca (and llama) walking around our beautiful farm in East Sussex. Situated in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Spring Farm is superbly located. We are adjacent to the Ashdown Forest, Bluebell Railway, Sheffield Park and the historic village of Fletching. Alpaca walking is huge fun for everyone – not just our alpacas! Our alpacas are delightful and friendly animals and all know their names. Everybody who comes to our farm for an alpaca trek comments on how relaxing our alpacas are to be around.

Learn about alpacas

With their inquisitive nature, alpacas are great fun to take for a walk and are certain to put a smile on your face! After a short introduction we will introduce you to our alpaca and llama family. We will then halter up our walking alpaca team and set off for a casual walk around our 110 acre farm. As they were born to do this, we normally take a llama or two as well on the walks. Llamas are gentle giants so do let us know when you book if you would/wouldn't like to walk a llama. During the walk, we will tell you a little about alpacas, their history, their stunning fleece and farming for wildlife at Spring Farm.

We farm for the benefit of our wildlife

Spring Farm has been managed within Countryside Stewardship for the last 25 years and we will tell you how we farm in a wildlife friendly way. As an example, we don't use fertilisers or pesticides at all. Hopefully you will spot some of the wildlife we have encouraged to thrive here – a UK alpaca and wildlife safari!

What to expect.

The entire alpaca walking experience lasts about 2 hours. We will give you a brief introduction first. This is so that both you and your walking alpaca get maximum enjoyment from the walk. It is really important to us that our walking alpacas and llamas really enjoy the experience too! We expect the walking element itself to last about 50/60 minutes and it is across undulating fields all within our farm boundaries. You should not encounter any unexpected surprises! The distance we cover is about a mile over undulating wildflower meadows - so a modicum of fitness is required. After the walk, you get to pay your walking alpaca in carrots - which are provided ready chopped!

Baby alpacas (crias)

We will then take you to meet our baby alpacas. All our babies for 2025 are now in the fields for you to meet. In 2026, we are expecting 13 baby alpacas for you to meet! Baby alpacas are born typically in the Summer months of May through July - but we are on baby watch from the beginning of April to the end of July normally.  As we only ever do one walk a day there is never a rush.

Practicalities.

We can also cater for hen parties and corporate events (team building). There is ample free parking on site and a toilet. Additionally, there are also 2 hand sanitising facilities.

During the walk, we will take photos of you individually and as a group. We will email these out to you a day or so after the walk (no charge) via an iCloud link attached to an email. There are also plenty of opportunities for selfies whilst on the walk. We have a small shop where you can purchase the perfect memento of your visit.

Just a note...

You must be 12 years or older to walk an alpaca. If the child is aged 8 - 11 they may only accompany an adult who is walking an alpaca. Unfortunately, children under the age of 8 are not permitted on our walks (or on the farm).  This is stipulated by our insurance - sorry - and can't be varied.

We are not an open farm so can only offer alpaca walking via pre-booking. We cannot cater for walk-ins I am afraid.

Alpaca experiences - meet and greet.

If you are not able to book an alpaca walk, you can book an alpaca experience. This we do bespoke so please email us for more details/ cost / availability. More details are here: Meet and greet alpaca experiences - Alpaca Walking - Spring Farm Alpacas

When we moved to Spring Farm, there was one common When we moved to Spring Farm, there was one common orchid plant on the whole farm. 29 years later there are 4 species and approximately 500 plants. The success of farming for nature (countryside stewardship) is plain to see. These beautiful orchids are early purples and are flowering in amongst the bluebells. Book an alpaca walk amongst our wildflower meadows and witness what nature can do if left in peace! #alpacawalking #wildorchid #alpacafarm #naturewalk #naturewalks

It’s a holiday let and because of the farm’s schedules, we let it from Saturday to Saturday all year round. There are a few weeks vacant for 2026 and we are about to come into our birthing period for the alpacas (starts mid/end May). If you fancy a truly unique break/holiday with peace, quiet and alpacas - then you might have just found it. It has a king size double bed room and a sofa bed so sleeps up to 3. The Lodge is recently converted and recently redecorated. It has all top quality appliances, good wi-fi, parking, access to an EV charger, fully double glazed and insulated - and our prices are fully inclusive all bills/vat etc. We are near the village of Fletching, East Sussex but on the doorstep of Brighton, The South Downs, #farmstay #holidaylet #farmlife #ukstaycation #holidaycottage
