The South East Alpaca Group (SEAG) was set up over 20 years ago for alpaca owners and breeders in the South East of England. Until recently, it was accessed via a website (www.southeastalpacagroup.co.uk) but owing to spiralling costs, SEAG is now accessed via Facebook:Â South East Alpaca Group
It is a public group on Facebook and is administered by Vicki Agar (Chairman) and Chris Agar (Treasurer).
The aim of the group is to encourage greater knowledge about all things alpaca – whether you are an existing owner or a potential owner of alpacas. We also provide support to owners and breeders who are concerned with the welfare and care of alpacas. You may also find it is equally interesting for owners of llamas too! Typically, there are meetings about 2/3 meetings a year and recent topics covered have included:
Geriatric alpacas
The importance of vaccinating your alpacas
Local alpaca shows – South of England Alpaca Show
Alpaca health care, diet and age management
Quechua Benefit trip to Peru 2017
Hypothermia, hyperthermia and dehydration in alpacas
There is no charge to join. However, a small charge is levied to attend the meetings to cover the cost of the venue and a sandwich lunch.
We also maintain a mailing list. If you would like to be contacted by email as well or as an alternative, drop us a line here at Spring Farm Alpacas. We are always interested in new topics and want the group to be as inclusive and informative as possible. Would you like to get more involved in the running of the group or, for example, want to get involved in helping run the South of England Alpaca Show? Then please get in touch.
Like most voluntary groups, SEAG wouldn’t exist without the dedication of volunteers. If you are an alpaca or llama owner in the South East of England, please do support us! You can do this by attending the meetings or volunteering your time. You can contact Vicki or Chris via either Facebook (South East Alpaca Group) or directly via Spring Farm Alpacas on info@springfarmalpacas.co.uk
For further contact details, please see elsewhere on this website for directions, phone numbers etc.
