SPRING FARM ALPACAS
We were very proud to be once again at the BAS National 2019 both as Spring Farm Alpacas and as Silver Sponsors of the Show with West Wight Alpacas as Suri Stud – our joint venture in world class suri genetics. It was an amazing three days – two days showing – and we were very pleased to have Danielle Harman again help us out with showing. Its normally a 3.5 hour drive to the International Centre in Telford but for the third year, the M25 conspired against us and it took 5.5 hours to get there!
So how did we do? We took 8 alpacas – 7 suris and 1 huacaya. Our suri results were as follows:
Springfarm Sancerre | Intermediate Grey (Shorn) | 1st and Reserve Champion |
Springfarm Roman | Adult White | 1st |
Springfarm Rumor | Adult Light | 1st |
Springfarm Tiffin | Junior Fawn | 2nd |
Springfarm Symphony | Intermediate Light Female (Shorn) | 1st |
Springfarm Toreador | Junior Brown | 1st and Champion |
In huacayas, we only took Phoenix – our black Huacaya stud male who came a very credible 3rd having taken Reserve Champion Black fleece at the Heart of England in 2018 and Reserve Champion Black Male at the South of England 2018.
SURI STUD
After we got home, we also looked at our combined results with West Wight as Suri Stud…Suri Stud had an amazing BAS National for 2019. As well as looking at individual results, we thought it worthwhile to look at the genetic potential within Suri Stud. This is witnessed by the following progeny results which can only be enhanced by the new genetics from Tailor Made and Mason which will be apparent in the 2019 crias.
Suri Stud Male Progeny results: 2019 BAS National
Aslan 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd, 1 x Champion, 1 x Res. Ch
Amadeus 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd, 1 x Reserve Champion
Alfonzo 2 x 1st, 1 x Champion
Rapper 3 x 1st, 1 x 4th, 1 x Champion
So, very pleased, and here are some of our favourite pics from the Show:
