BAS National Halter Show 2024 results for Spring Farm Alpacas.
Spring Farm Alpacas were again a major sponsor of the BAS National Halter Show 2024. The Show was held at the International Centre in Telford, Shropshire. The Show takes place over 3 days and is the pinnacle of alpaca shows in the UK. We have already covered the results we achieved in the BAS National 2024 fleece Show on a separate post (amazing best describes I think). So this is the halter show element. Vicki, Kaitlyn (our farm manager) and I led the Show team of 8 alpacas this year. We entered 7 suri alpacas and 1 huacaya alpaca as well and all bar Spring Farm Danaerys were placed 3rd or better!.
The Show is a huge international event with breeders from all over the UK showing their alpacas. There were 2 judges this year for the halter classes: Mary-Jo Smith from the UK and Shane Carey from Australia. The fleece show was judged by Barbara Hetherington from the UK. We are very grateful to them and the Show organisers for another fabulous Show.
So how did Spring Farm Alpacas do?
Springfarm The Incredible Dash – 3rd place suri junior white male (split class).
Springfarm D’Angelo – 1st place suri junior white male (split class) – CHAMPION SURI WHITE MALE
Springfarm Digby’s Diamond – 2nd place suri junior male light
Springfarm Ducati – 3rd place suri junior male brown
Springfarm Prince Caspian – 1st place suri intermediate male fawn
Springfarm Caesar – 2nd place huacaya intermediate male grey
Springfarm Captain – 1st place suri intermediate male suri brown
We couldn’t have been more pleased! Not only did we do well in both halter and fleece shows, but our alpacas were, as always, probably the best handled alpacas in the show rings. A huge tribute to Vicki and Kaitlyn for the superb halter training we do on farm. We also practice loading and simulate being judged to our new show team to try and minimise any stress they might feel at the show. So pleased to see it paying dividends in every way.
We can’t wait to take our team to the Heart of England – watch this space!
