South of England Show 2017

We have just got back from the South of England Show 2017. Its been a full on year as Vicki has been involved in managing the Show again with Liz Butler but this year we have moved venue within the Ardingly Showground. This year we were all housed indoors in the Abergavenny Building. This huge indoor arena was kitted out with terram and a carpeted showring under flood lights. All the alpacas were housed in pens within the building and on terram. I think its fair to say this was a major upgrade and all the breeders showing agreed it was far better than previous years as far as the facilities were concerned. The judge this year was Nick Harrington-Smith who is both a BAS Judge and International judge and well know within the area having farmed alpacas in the South East for many years. Nick’s judging was exemplary and both exhibitors and audience agreed his oral reasoning was both professional and informative.

Many people were involved in putting on the South of England Show 2017 and gave up their free time to make it a great – and very friendly – show. For us, here at Spring Farm Alpacas, we had a show team of 9 alpacas over the two days and were helped by Millie, Chris and Tony in the ring. Vicki was instrumental over the entire Show but also found time to be ring steward! Chris juggled handling, photography and commentary. You would have to say – a great team effort and we look forward to The South of England Show 2018!

Spring Farm Lord Percy got first – Intermediate Grey Male Huacaya.

Spring Farm Oenone got second – Adult Grey Female Huacaya.

Spring Farm Ravel got first Junior Male Suri Light – and Champion!

Spring Farm Roman got first Junior Male Suri White – and Champion!

Spring Farm Persephone got first Intermediate Female Suri Light – and Champion…and then went on to take Supreme Champion!!!
